EDITIONS PUBLISHED BY COLOGNE DESIGN GALLERY

The intention of the Cologne Design Gallery is to pay more attention to the design sketches. For this reason, the Cologne Design Gallery produces and publishes exclusive and limited editions of such drawings with a selection of international designers. For the first time, design lovers will have the opportunity to purchase these limited art works here in the store.

The Curators

We live and love design.
We are the designers Natalie Weis and Antonia Varelmann.

Together we combine our experience in design and the organisation of more than 50 national and international design exhibitions, teaching assignments at universities and our work in our agency BEYER ROTH WEIS Design Consultancy, in Cologne. We advise companies in the furniture industry on design, design trade fair stands, we organize international design competitions for young designers, and furnish private houses and apartments.

Our daily work has inspired us to found the Cologne Design Gallery. Not only at design competitions for up-and-coming designers we are in close contact with the designers and know how far the way from the draft to the finished product is. But there is magic in this process, the idea is put on paper and constantly developed further. In the first sketches you find the idea, the inspiration and the basis for the later designs. The Cologne Design Gallery gives you an insight into this creative process.

Limited Editions

Each work is produced in a strictly limited edition in consultation with the designer.

Signed by the Designer

The prints are numbered and hand-signed. In addition, the prints are embossed with a stamp of the gallery.

Certificate

Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity of the gallery. The following information is noted on the certificate: author of the work, title of the work, year of creation, edition, printing technique, manufacturer and model of the printer, paper.

Printing Process

The Cologne Design Gallery attaches great importance to the craftsmanship of the prints. The prints are printed in a premium printing process with Epson UltraChrome Pro inks. This printing process enables particularly fine tonal value differences. Six colors and three black levels provide a lot of finesse and highlight every detail. The image content is reproduced in high resolution with perfect gray balance at 1,440 dpi. Extremely suitable for achieving with true-to-original color reproduction.

Paper

The Cologne Design Gallery generally prints (unless otherwise indicated in the work) on Hahnemühle Photo Rag (308 g/m²) artist paper made of cotton with a fine, soft surface structure. The white cotton artist paper with its characteristic, pleasantly soft feel captivates with its softly pronounced felt structure and gives every work of art a three-dimensionality and impressive pictorial depth. In combination with the matt premium inkjet coating, outstanding prints in brilliant colors, deep blacks, impressive contrasts and perfect reproduction of details are created. The paper is acid- and lignin-free.

Frame and glass

As standard, the Cologne Design Gallery offers these prints without frames. For each work, however, there is also a frame recommendation from the designer. If you choose a print with frame, the Cologne Design Gallery delivers the print in this frame with a UV-resistant plexiglass.
