Edition 2020
Titel: OFFENBACHER STUHL | 118
Designer: Sebastian Herkner
Creating a reminiscence of the Frankfurter Stuhl (Frankfurt Chair), conveying the “Thonet spirit” and using as few parts as possible – that was Sebastian Herkner’s design goal for chair 118 for Thonet.
Herkner sketched the wooden chair for the Cologne Design Gallery with a classic artist’s coloured crayon in a dark terracotta shade. In contrast to a pencil sketch, the chosen colourfulness gives the design its own character and a subtle elegance. Herkner draws with determined strong lines, the rich application of colour makes the chair shine and gives it a vividness.
Sebastian Herkner himself calls the chair 118 Offenbacher Stuhl (Offenbach Chair), in reference to his place of living and working.
For all design lovers who have a passion for contemporary design classics.
